Robbinsdale has a Council-City Manager system. The governing body consists of four council members and a mayor elected for staggered four-year terms. Other than residency, there are no specific qualifications that must be met to qualify for these offices. The City Council formulates the city policy. The City Manager is responsible for city administration.
Robbinsdale City Council generally meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m., except when conflicting with National Night Out, Elections, or Caucus meetings. Meetings are held at the Robbinsdale City Hall - 4100 Lakeview Avenue North. All meetings are open to the public. Meetings are web-streamed and archived through our membership with Northwest Suburbs Cable Commission.

The Mayor's salary for 2020 is $11,095 per year and each Council Member receives $8,850 per year for 2020.
City Council Filing Period 5/19-6/2
This year's city elections will be for Mayor and Council Members for Wards 1 and 2. Filing for Council Member or Mayor begins Tuesday, May 19th at 8:00 a.m. and ends Tuesday, June 2nd at 5:00 p.m. Filing for office requires completion of a simple form at Robbinsdale City Hall and payment of the filing fee of $5. Robbinsdale City Hall is located at 4100 Lakeview Avenue North, Robbinsdale, MN 55422.
If there are more than two candidates for any of the three positions, there will be a Primary Election on August 11th to determine the top two candidates. Those top two candidates would be on the General Election ballot on November 2nd.
