The Robbinsdale Police Department currently has five Officers assigned to the Quad-City Swat Team. They work with other Officers from the Golden Valley, Crystal and New Hope Police Departments to form a special operations team. The team is responsible for such things as high-risk warrant service, barricaded suspects, and hostage rescue incidents.

The Officers train using special techniques for emergency planning, scouting, building entry and searches.  They also train using special weapons and equipment such as hostage communications, diversionary devices and explosive entry. The team is made up of an entry team, counter-snipers, perimeter, chemical munitions Officers and an emergency medic. The Officers are cross-trained in most of these areas. The Officers train monthly and also train at Camp Ripley once a year.
