OFFICER
The Robbinsdale Police Department has one
Officer assigned as a Juvenile Officer. During the school year, this Officer works as the
Police Liaison at the Technology and Language Campus and the Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion
School. This assignment gives the Officer daily contact with youth and school
administrations on a variety of issues. The Officer participates in the "Kickin' It
With Cops" program developed by the Northwest YMCA. Programs such as the
"Kickin' It With Cops" and the daily school contact allow the Officer to connect
with at-risk youth in a positive atmosphere.
During the summer months, the Officer has
worked with the YMCA Youth Development Coordinator and participated in the YMCA's
Equestrian and Mini-bike youth development groups. The Officer also works patrol and
addresses juvenile issues as they develop over the Summer.
The Officer participates in the
Multi-Jurisdictional Curfew Project along with the Police Departments of Crystal, Golden
Valley, New Hope, and Plymouth to reduce juvenile curfew problems. The officer is a
member of the School District 281 Truancy Prevention Team which works to reduce truancy
and drop-out rates in our community. The Officer is also a member of the Hennepin County
Juvenile Advisory Committee, Minnesota Juvenile Officers Association, and District
281 Safe and Drug-Free School Planning Committee. During the school year, the Officer is
an active member in the SAT (Student Assistance Team) at the Technology and Language
campus.
The Juvenile Officer developed a program
and conducts alcohol and tobacco compliance checks required by the Minnesota Legislature.
