Free Arbor Day tree seedlings!!!
Free Arbor Day tree seedlings are now available (until May 16, 2008 or until gone) at the Crystal Community Center.  These bare-root plants will need to be planted right away.  Ask about them at the information desk.

Solid Waste Holiday Schedule
For 2008 the following solid waste holiday schedule will be observed:

No collection on Memorial Day. Collection one day late all week.

No collection on 4th of July.  Collection one day late rest of week.

No collection Labor Day. Collection one day late all week.

No collection Thanksgiving. Collection one day late rest of week.

No collection for Christmas.  Collection one day late rest of week.

42nd & Regent Development 1/1/2008
The redevelopment of the old school site includes single family homes east of Regent, one-level senior cottages on the southwest corner of 42nd & Regent, and 140 townhome units.   84 of the townhome units are now occupied and 3 models are also open daily.  Five single family homes have been constructed. The original senior co-op concept has changed to one-level senior cottages. Construction on the cottages is expected to start in the spring, 2008.

Construction schedule:
Construct 9 homes east of Regent by January 2009
Construct senior cottages by January 2010
Construct townhomes by January 2010

  
High Water - Still No Wake Restrictions-10/22/07
As of 10/22/07, Crystal Lake was measured at 848.36 and No Wake signs remain.  Twin Lake is at 852.48 and no wake signs are posted at the boat launch.

High water restrictions (i.e. no wake) are in place when Crystal Lake level is above 848 and on Twin Lake until the lake reaches 852.25. Signs are posted at boat landings.

Once restrictions are on, the level must go below the specified level for three consecutive days before restrictions will be lifted.  There are signs permanently mounted at the boat launch which will indicate when restrictions are in effect.
  
Pet Licenses
The City of Robbinsdale requires that residents license their cats and dogs.  A dog and cat license is valid for a two-year period.  2008-2009 pet licenses are now available.  To obtain a license for your pet, you must provide proof of your pet’s current rabies vaccination and pay the appropriate license fee.  A pet license purchased now will be valid through December 31, 2008. The fees are $15.00 for a neutered or spayed animal and $20.00 for a non-neutered or non-spayed animal. 
You may come to City Hall in person or mail your application request with the required fee and a copy of the current rabies vaccination to Animal License, City Hall, 4100 Lakeview Avenue North, Robbinsdale, MN 55422.  For further information, please call 763-537-4534. 
  
County Road 81 and Related Construction Projects - September 28, 2007
The downtown work is 99% completed. Paving work on the north bound lanes starting at Lowry started today.
The 39th Ave access to Lakeland frontage road and final work on the east side frontage road by Hidden Shores had its first layer of asphalt.
The handrail for the stairs to Town Center has been ordered and stairs will remain closed until it is installed.

An area of roadway in front of Terrace Mall was added to the project and is currently under construction.

It is expected that all work (including landscaping) will be completed by the end of the 2008 construction season.

Paid on Call Firefighters WANTED!
Robbinsdale Fire Department is currently seeking applicants for the position of paid on call firefighter. The department is looking to hire new applicants that can respond to fire calls during the daytime hours of 6AM to 6PM Monday to Friday.
All applicants must reside or be employed full time at an established business within a 2 mile radius of the Robbinsdale Fire Station.  If you are a community orientated, motivated individual, that is physically fit, over the age of 18 with a High School Diploma or GED and a valid Minnesota Drivers License you may have a future in firefighting.

Yard Waste Pick Up
Yard waste is collected from April to mid-November. Yard waste pick up will begin again in April.
YARDWASTE: 
Grass clippings, leaves, pine needles, pine cones, acorns, small hedge shavings, twigs under 1/2 inch in diameter and under 3 inches long, weeds, flowers and garden waste (compost) are collected by a compost truck mid-April through mid-November  (call City Hall, (763) 537-4534 for exact dates).  Bags must weigh under 30 pounds, not contain large sticks or refuse, and be placed 5 feet away from regular garbage cart.  Unlimited amounts of yard waste are allowed to be set out each week.  Yardwaste collection is included as part of your regular monthly service.  Stickers are not required for compost.

A galvanized or Rubbermaid-type container is allowed for compost disposal only.  You must put a sign on your can which clearly reads “COMPOST” or pick up a “YARDWASTE ONLY” sticker, provided by Waste Management, at City Hall.  A lid is required on compost cans so that the contents stay dry and do not blow out. The container cannot weigh more than 30 pounds.  Containers with compost (bag, box or can) must be placed 5 feet from garbage containers.


BRANCHES:
Brush, hedge clippings and branches must be bundled and are collected by the compost truck from mid-April through mid-November.  Branches must be under 3 inches in diameter, weigh under 30 pounds per bundle and be under 5 feet in length.  Stickers are not required.  For tree limb and trunk disposal, call a tree service or the Maple Grove Yard waste drop-off site (763-420-4886).

City Band Centennial Book and CDs Available
100 years old and still making musical history, the Robbinsdale City Band (RCB) celebrated a century of performing free musical entertainment in 2006.  

Two highlights of the year, were a commissioned world premiere of “Whiz Bang,” by local composer Shelley Hanson, written especially for the centennial event and a new march written by Serber for the occasion.  The celebration also included a publication of a history book showcasing the band’s 100-year history in words and archival photographs, and a commemorative centennial CD of their concert music which sold out at the event.  To purchase a copy of the commeorative Centennial Book or CD call Robbinsdale's Parks and Recreation office at 763-531-1270 or log onto the City Band’s website at www.RobbinsdaleCityBand.org.
