| Lawn Watering
Restrictions (year round): Robbinsdale restricts watering lawns between 11
a.m. and 6 p.m. The only exception is for new sod and plants. Watering during these
hours generally results in more evaporation than benefit. We want to use the city's
resources wisely and therefore this restriction is in place regardless of flood/drought
conditions. |
|
| Open Burning/Recreational
Fires |
|
The City of Robbinsdale prohibits all open burning with the exception of
recreational fires. A recreational fire is a small fire set for cooking, warming or
ceremonial purposes. A permit is required for all recreational fires. Fires
must be in a fire pit/ring made a maximum of 3 feet in diameter, a maximum of 3 feet high,
and a minimum of 1 foot deep. The pit shall be constructed of a block or rock border.
Alternatively, a commercially manufactured wood-burning device, such as a Coleman or Weber
fire pit, may be used, as approved by the Fire Marshall. Chimeneas or ceramic/clay type
fire pits/pots are prohibited. The flame height shall not exceed three feet above
the base of the fire. Recreational fires shall not be conducted within 25 feet of
any structure, combustible wall, fence, deck, roof or other combustible materials.
Only clean, dry firewood shall be used. All recreational fires must be conducted
between 9 am -11 pm. Applications
for Recreational Fire Permits are available at City Hall. Fee of $35 for calendar year -

could result in the loss of the right to have recreational fires and may cause a citation
to be issued. For more information call Robbinsdale Fire Department at 763-531-1220 or

Mobile cooking devices such as

| Garage Sales |
 |
I want to advertise my garage sale. I see sales advertised around the City. Is this legal? |
|
Garage
sale signs are permitted on the property where the sale will be held, but are limited to
the day of the sale and must be removed upon close of the sale. Signs may not exceed
5 square feet. |
 |
I would like to have a
garage sale over a weekend. Is that acceptable? |
|
As long
as the sale does not exceed 72 consecutive hours. |
 |
Can I have more than
one garage sale per year? |
|
Not more that two sales can
be held in any 12-month period by the same person or on the same property unless they get
a second hand goods dealer license which is not permitted in residential areas. |
 |
Can
my neighbors and I share a sale? |
|
A sale must be held on the
property occupied by the seller and the items must be owned by the occupant.
Neighbors could coordinate having their sales at the same time. |
 |
Can I have a sale for
which I'm selling products on consignment or purchased at other garage sales? |
|
Sales may not include items
specifically purchased with the intent of resale and are to be the property of the person
conducting the sale. |
